Competitions
PLEASE NOTE:
Due to notification of a substantial reduction in Festival funding, as a result of the present economic circumstances, Pan Celtic reserve the right to review the amount of the cash prizes attaching to each competition, if found necessary.
Whilst there are many formal and informal non-competitive events, such as Club Nights, street sessions, pub sessions, etc.,
Pan Celtic is primiarly a competitive festival.
All competitors must send entries in the first instance through their National Committee, and must adhere to the competition rules, as well as the general rules of participation in the festival.

Other Events
A number of fringe events usualy take place during the festival, and include: Aeríocht/Street entertainment, Language classes/Ranganna teangacha, Music sessions/ Séisiúin Cheoil, Poetry Readings/Éigse Filíochta, Dance Workshops/Ceardlanna Rince, Lectures/Léachtaí.
Dancing: As well as the dance competitions, there are dance workshops, performances at the Club Nights, the parade and informal sessions on the streets during the festival.
Music: Music is highly featured during the festival, and many sessions can be heard throughout the town outside the organised competitions.
Parade: A colourful feature is the parade through the town, with Celts in national costume, carrying their national flags and banners, Piping ,marching bands and Interceltic dance groups taking part.
Sport: The main sporting events of the festival are the Comogie which can feature up to 80 teams from all over Ireland in battle for the panceltic title in this ladies hurling event, An Interceltic golf is a regular feature at the festival, Pan Celtic has also contributed to the ties between the Irish Hurling game and Scotish Shinty, played with compromise rules, and many a hard fought match has taken place over the years for the international Pan Celtic Title.
The International Pan Celtic Festival will be hosted by Carlow Town in April 2012. It is a great honour for the people of Carlow to host this prestigious event for the very first time. We invite you to join us and enter into our annual Pan Celtic Camogie Blitz Competition, to be held in venues throughout Carlow Town. This is a great chance for your Camogie Team to start off the 2012 year. We know that you will savour the very best of food, music, singing and entertainment during your stay in this beautiful town on the banks of the magnificent River Barrow. Camogie is the main sporting event of the festival and Camogie blitz which can feature up to 80 teams from all over Ireland in battle for the Pan Celtic title in this event. The Camogie Blitz will take place on the 14th & 15th April. Blitz group games shall take place on the Saturday with the finals to be held on the Sunday at a Premier Carlow GAA venue. Frequently asked questions: What age groups can enter the Pan Celtic Camogie Tournament for 2012? The Pan Celtic Camogie Tournament is a competition for Under 16 and Senior level teams. Who can enter the Pan Celtic Tournament 2012? Any registered Camogie Club team can enter this tournament. Please note that only registered club players may play in this tournament. What are the rules & regulations of this tournament? The Pan Celtic tournament is regulated by An Cumann Camógaíochta playing rules as stated on the www.camogie.ie website. Normal Camogie rules apply. Teams will play 15 aside games. Who grades the teams that enter into the Pan Celtic Tournament? Leinster Camogie Council will grade all teams that enter into the Pan Celtic Tournament for 2012. We look forward to seeing you all in Carlow.
